Indications
Gaviflux is used for gastric reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and gas linked to reflux. Gaviflux also helps with heartburn during pregnancy and other stomach discomfort caused by acid reflux.
Pharmacology
Gaviflux contains two antacids (Calcium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate) and an alginate (Sodium Alginate). Gaviflux works in two ways: neutralizing excess stomach acid for quick relief and forming a protective barrier over stomach contents to prevent acid reflux. The barrier helps keep stomach acid from reaching the esophagus, reducing irritation. In severe cases, the barrier itself may be refluxed instead of stomach contents, providing additional relief. Gaviflux also helps trap bile and digestive enzymes to further protect the esophagus.
