Indications

Antuss Plus is used to relieve cough, help with congestion symptoms, and promote restful sleep.

Pharmacology

Guaifenesin helps thin mucus and is used to make coughing up mucus easier. Levomenthol has mild numbing and decongestant effects. Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride is used to relieve cough, reduce allergic reactions, and relax the muscles.

Dosage & Administration

Adults and children over 12 years: Take 2 teaspoonfuls (10 ml) of syrup 4 times a day or as directed by a doctor. Do not exceed 8 teaspoonfuls (40 ml) in 24 hours.

Children & Adolescents: The safety and effectiveness of this product have not been proven for children and adolescents.

Interaction

This syrup contains Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, which can increase the effects of alcohol and other medications that slow the nervous system. Antuss Plus may also enhance the effects of anticholinergic drugs, leading to possible side effects like a dry mouth, increased heart rate, and trouble passing urine.

Contraindications

Antuss Plus is not recommended for people with a known allergy to any of its ingredients. Antuss Plus should not be used by anyone who has taken a MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitor) within the last two weeks.

Side Effects

Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, dry mouth, difficulty urinating, and blurred vision.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Antuss Plus should be used carefully during pregnancy. There is no evidence to suggest harmful effects on the baby or breastfeeding infant, but consult a doctor before use.

Precautions & Warnings

This syrup can cause drowsiness, so you should avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel sleepy. People with narrow-angle glaucoma or prostate problems should avoid this product. Antuss Plus should not be used for long-term or chronic cough, such as from asthma, or with excessive mucus unless directed by a doctor.

Overdose Effects

Taking too much Guaifenesin may lead to kidney stones. Overdose treatment should focus on relieving symptoms and supporting the person until they recover.
