Indications
Primrole 500 is used for treating symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), benign breast disease, cyclical mastalgia, and other conditions like lactation, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, thrombosis, and atopic eczema. Primrole 500 also helps as a dietary aid and promotes healthy skin, nails, and hair.
Pharmacology
Primrole 500 helps improve the essential fatty acid (EFA) composition in the blood, red blood cells, platelets, and vitamin E levels in both healthy and diabetic individuals. Primrole 500 increases the fat content in mother’s milk and changes the fatty acid composition of serum lipids in men with low levels of dihoma-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA). Primrole 500 maintains normal cell structures and acts as a precursor to DGLA and other important fatty acids.
Evening primrose oil provides gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which plays a major role in its effectiveness. After ingestion, GLA is absorbed and converted into DGLA and other important compounds for the body.
Dosage & Administration
Atopic & Allergic Dermatitis: Adults: 1 capsule twice daily. Children: 1 capsule once daily.
Benign Breast Disease & Mastalgia: 1 capsule 2–3 times daily with or after meals.
Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS): 1 capsule twice daily, in the morning and night with or after meals.
Rheumatoid Arthritis: 1 capsule daily or as prescribed by the doctor.
Interaction
There is no known interaction with other medications.
Contraindications
Primrole 500 was previously not recommended for patients with schizophrenia. However, recent studies have not shown any clear therapeutic or harmful effects for those with schizophrenia.
Side Effects
Side effects are rare when taken as directed. In case of overdose, Primrole 500 may cause stomach upset, loose stools, and abdominal pain.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Evening primrose oil contains essential fatty acids important for breastfeeding. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should ensure they get 5% of their daily calories from essential fatty acids, as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
