Indications
Aexidal is indicated for the treatment of allergic conditions or symptoms such as urticaria, itching, eczema, drug rashes, insect bites, allergic conjunctivitis, dermatitis from nutritional causes, hay fever, vasomotor rhinitis, and allergic asthma.
Pharmacology
Aexidal works by blocking histamine receptors, reducing or stopping the main actions of histamine in the body.
Dosage & Administration
Adults and children over 10 years: 2-6 tablets per day
Children:
- 5-10 years: 2-4 tablets per day
- 2-5 years: 1-3 tablets per day
- Up to 2 years: 1-2 tablets per day
Treatment should be divided into several doses throughout the day. Aexidal can be taken during or shortly after meals. For children, the tablet may be crushed and mixed with food.
Interaction
Aexidal may enhance the effects of atropine and tricyclic antidepressants. Aexidal can also mask symptoms of damage caused by ototoxic drugs.
Contraindications
Aexidal is contraindicated in individuals who are hypersensitive to any of its ingredients, those with prostatic hypertrophy, narrow-angle glaucoma, and during the first trimester of pregnancy.
Side Effects
Possible side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, low blood pressure, muscle weakness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, stomach pain, headache, blurred vision, ringing in the ears, depression, nightmares, loss of appetite, dry mouth, chest tightness, tingling sensations, and sedation.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Its safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established.
Precautions & Warnings
Aexidal may cause drowsiness. If affected, avoid driving, operating machinery, or drinking alcohol.
