General Dosage: The dose depends on the infection being treated. For adults, the daily dose ranges from 200 mg to 800 mg. Up to 400 mg may be taken in one dose, preferably in the morning. Larger doses should be split into two doses. Take with liquid and avoid taking with magnesium, aluminium antacids or iron.

• Enteric fever: 200 mg every 12 hours for 5 days (children: 15 mg/kg/day for 3 days).
• Shigellosis: 400 mg as a single dose.
• Multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis: 400 mg twice daily with other anti-tuberculosis drugs.
• Lower respiratory infections: 400 mg daily, may increase to 400 mg twice daily if needed.
• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections: Single dose of 200/400 mg.
• Uncomplicated gonorrhoea: Single dose of 400 mg.
• Non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis: 400 mg daily in one or two doses.
• Complicated urinary tract infections: 200/400 mg/day for 7 days.

Impaired liver function: Lower dose may be needed if the liver is not functioning well.

For children: Rutix 400 is usually not recommended for use in children or adolescents.

For elderly: No dosage adjustment is required.

Eye & Ear Drops: For eyes, instill 1 drop every 2 to 4 hours for the first two days, then 4 times daily. Treatment should not exceed ten days. For ears, instill 1-2 drops twice daily or as needed.
