Pharmacology

Nalbun DS is a strong pain reliever similar to morphine. Nalbun DS works by attaching to certain receptors in the brain and body, primarily helping to relieve pain. The effect of the medicine starts in 2-3 minutes when given through an IV and in less than 15 minutes if injected into the skin or muscles. The pain relief lasts for 3 to 6 hours.

Dosage & Administration

Adult & Elderly: The usual dose is 10 mg for a 70 kg person, injected into the muscles or veins. This dose can be repeated every 3 to 6 hours if needed. The dose may be changed based on how severe the pain is and the person’s health.

For moderate to severe pain: 10-20 mg for a 70 kg person, injected into the veins or muscles, repeated if needed. Children may need up to 0.3 mg/kg body weight, repeated once or twice if needed.

For pre-surgery anesthesia: 0.1-0.2 mg/kg injected into the veins or muscles.

For pain relief during labor: 0.3-1 mg/kg injected slowly over 10-15 minutes, with maintenance doses of 0.25-0.5 mg/kg as needed.

For in-surgery pain relief: 0.25 – 0.5 mg/kg injected every 30 minutes.

For heart attack pain: 10-20 mg injected slowly, repeated after 30 minutes if necessary.

For children 18 months to 15 years old: The usual dose is 0.2 mg/kg, given through injection. The doctor will decide how often Nalbun DS should be given.
