Indications
Nospot Cream is used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma on the face. After starting the treatment, avoid exposure to the sun. Always use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more.
Pharmacology
Nospot Cream contains three active ingredients: Fluocinolone Acetonide, Hydroquinone, and Tretinoin. All of them help treat melasma. While the exact way they work is not known, Fluocinolone Acetonide is a steroid that reduces inflammation. Hydroquinone helps lighten skin by blocking melanin production, while Tretinoin works by improving the skin’s texture.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: Apply once daily at night, at least 30 minutes before bedtime. Gently wash your face and neck with a mild cleanser, then apply a thin layer of the cream to the areas with melasma, including about half an inch of normal skin around the spots. Gently rub the cream into the skin. During the day, use sunscreen and wear protective clothing. Avoid sunlight. You can use moisturizers or makeup during the day.
Pediatric patients: The safety and effectiveness of this cream in children have not been established.
Interaction
Avoid using medicated or abrasive soaps, cleansers, or cosmetics that dry out the skin. Also, avoid products with a high alcohol content, astringents, or other irritating drugs. Do not use with medications that make your skin more sensitive to the sun.
Contraindications
Nospot Cream is not suitable for people who are allergic or sensitive to any of its ingredients.
Side Effects
Some people may experience allergic reactions, such as difficulty breathing or severe asthma attacks. Skin reactions like redness, peeling, burning, dryness, or itching are possible but usually mild to moderate.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. Nospot Cream contains Tretinoin, which can cause harm to the unborn baby, such as birth defects or developmental issues. Nospot Cream should only be used during pregnancy if the benefit outweighs the risk. There are no enough studies on its safety during pregnancy.
Lactation: Nospot Cream is not clear whether this cream can be passed into breast milk, so Nospot Cream should be used cautiously by nursing women.
Precautions & Warnings
Nospot Cream can cause irritation, such as redness, peeling, burning, dryness, or itching. If any severe reaction occurs, stop using the cream. This cream also contains a steroid, which can affect your hormone levels if absorbed too much into the body.
