Indications

Esonix 20 Capsule is used to treat conditions such as gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), reduce the risk of gastric ulcers caused by NSAIDs, help eliminate H. pylori infection (as part of triple therapy), and manage Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and excessive stomach acid production.

Pharmacology

Esonix 20 Capsule works by blocking a specific enzyme in the stomach, which reduces stomach acid production. This helps in healing ulcers and treating acid reflux. Esonix 20 Capsule is also used to prevent ulcers caused by NSAIDs.

Dosage & Administration

For erosive esophagitis: Adults and children (12-18 years): 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks.

For maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis: Adults and children (12-18 years): 20 mg once daily.

For risk reduction in NSAID-associated gastric ulcer: Adults: 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.

For H. pylori eradication: Adults and children (12-18 years): 20 mg twice daily for 7 days, in combination with 1000 mg Amoxicillin and 500 mg Clarithromycin.

For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Adults: 40-80 mg twice daily.

For children (1-11 years): Erosive esophagitis: 10 mg once daily for 8 weeks (for children weighing less than 20 kg) and 10 mg or 20 mg once daily for 8 weeks (for children weighing 20 kg or more). Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis: 10 mg once daily.

For children under 1 year: Esonix 20 Capsule is not recommended for children younger than 1 year.

Interaction

Esonix 20 Capsule is broken down by the liver enzymes CYP2C19 and CYP3A4. Esonix 20 Capsule does not significantly interact with drugs metabolized by most other enzymes. However, Esonix 20 Capsule may affect the absorption of some medications like ketoconazole, iron, and digoxin. Esonix 20 Capsule can also interact with diazepam, increasing its levels in the blood.

Contraindications

Esonix 20 Capsule should not be used by individuals who are allergic to any of its components.

Side Effects

The most common side effects include headaches, nausea, diarrhea, flatulence, abdominal pain, constipation, and dry mouth. These side effects are usually mild and temporary.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Esonix 20 Capsule is recommended to use caution during pregnancy. Esonix 20 Capsule is not known if Esonix 20 Capsule passes into breast milk, so consult a doctor before using Esonix 20 Capsule while breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings

Esonix 20 Capsule should be used carefully in patients with severe liver or kidney issues. Long-term use may slightly increase the risk of bone fractures, especially in the hip, wrist, or spine.
