Indications

Utrobin 5 is used to treat symptoms of frequent urination, urgency, and urge incontinence that occur with overactive bladder syndrome.

Pharmacology

Utrobin 5 works by blocking certain receptors (muscarinic receptors) in the bladder. By blocking the M3 receptor, Utrobin 5 stops the bladder muscle from contracting too much. Utrobin 5 also blocks M2 receptors, which helps reduce muscle contractions in the bladder.

Dosage & Administration

Adults & Elderly: Take 5 mg once a day. If needed, this can be increased to 10 mg once a day.

Use in children: Utrobin 5 should not be used in children as its safety and effectiveness have not been established for them.

Interaction

Taking Utrobin 5 with other medicines that have anticholinergic effects may cause stronger effects or side effects. Wait about one week after stopping Utrobin 5 before starting other anticholinergic treatments. Utrobin 5 may also reduce the effects of some other medicines, like those that help the stomach move food along, such as Metoclopramide. Taking Utrobin 5 with a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor (like Ketoconazole) can increase the concentration of this medicine in the body. Utrobin 5 is not recommended to take Utrobin 5 with a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor in people with severe kidney or moderate liver problems.

Contraindications

Utrobin 5 should not be used by people who are allergic to Utrobin 5 or any of its ingredients, or those with conditions like urinary retention, narrow-angle glaucoma, severe gastrointestinal issues, or severe kidney or liver problems. Utrobin 5 is also not recommended for patients undergoing hemodialysis or taking certain other medications like Ketoconazole.

Side Effects

Common side effects include dry mouth, constipation, nausea, abdominal pain, and blurred vision. Some people may also experience fatigue, dizziness, or urinary retention. These effects are usually mild and go away after some time. Some people may have rare side effects like hallucinations or difficulty swallowing.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Utrobin 5 is not recommended to use Utrobin 5 during pregnancy as there is not enough data on its safety. Utrobin 5 should also be avoided while breastfeeding as Utrobin 5 can pass into breast milk and may harm the baby.

Precautions & Warnings

Before using Utrobin 5, other possible causes of frequent urination (like heart or kidney problems) should be checked. Utrobin 5 should be used carefully in patients with bladder issues, gastrointestinal problems, severe kidney or liver disease, or those taking other medications that could affect the bladder or stomach.

Overdose Effects

In case of an overdose, symptoms like dry mouth, confusion, blurred vision, and urinary retention may occur. Treatment for an overdose may include activated charcoal and other medications to treat specific symptoms, like benzodiazepines for seizures or beta-blockers for tachycardia.
