Indications
Mebiz SR is used for the symptomatic treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic irritable colon, spastic constipation, mucous colitis, colicky abdominal pain, and persistent non-specific diarrhea.

Dosage & Administration
For adults, elderly, and children over 10 years:
Mebeverine Hydrochloride 135 mg tablet: 1 tablet 3 times daily.
Mebeverine Hydrochloride 200 mg capsule: 1 capsule 2 times daily.
Mebiz SR is most effective when taken 20 minutes before meals. After a few weeks, when the desired effect has been achieved, the dosage may be gradually reduced.
Missed dose: If a dose is missed, take Mebiz SR as soon as possible. However, if Mebiz SR is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once to make up for the missed dose.
Use in children: Mebiz SR is not recommended for children under 10 years.

Contraindications
Mebiz SR is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its ingredients.
Side Effects
Generally, Mebiz SR is well tolerated. However, a few side effects like skin rash, hives (urticaria), and swelling (angioedema) may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation
No teratogenicity has been shown in animal experiments. However, the usual precautions should be taken when administering any drug during pregnancy. Mebiz SR does not pass into breast milk when taken at therapeutic doses.
Precautions & Warnings
Use caution in patients with porphyria or those who have had allergic reactions to this or similar medications.
Overdose Effects
In case of overdose, CNS excitability may occur. No specific antidote is known; gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment are recommended.
