Indications
Flacol Pediatric Drop is used to treat and prevent symptoms like flatulence, bloating, fullness, and gas in the stomach and intestines. Flacol Pediatric Drop helps relieve the pain caused by excess gas, which can result from swallowing air or eating certain foods. Simethicone drops are especially helpful for infants and work by making Flacol Pediatric Drop easier to release gas through burping or passing flatus.
Flacol Pediatric Drop is also used to prepare for large bowel investigations by adding Flacol Pediatric Drop to polyethylene glycol bowel preparations, improving symptoms before procedures. Additionally, Flacol Pediatric Drop is used as an antifoaming agent in the treatment of accidental ingestion of foaming detergents.
Pharmacology
Flacol Pediatric Drop is used as an antiflatulent to relieve bloating, pressure, and fullness in the upper GI tract. The way Flacol Pediatric Drop works is by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles, helping them combine and be released more easily. This action makes Flacol Pediatric Drop easier to pass gas and reduce discomfort. Flacol Pediatric Drop is also useful after surgery to relieve post-operative gas pain and to reduce gas shadows during imaging procedures like gastroscopy and radiography.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 40-125 mg (0.6 ml-1.9 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops) 4 times a day, up to 500 mg/day (7.5 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops) or 1-3 chewable tablets, 4 times a day, up to 500 mg/day (12 chewable tablets).
Children 2-12 years: 40 mg (0.6 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops) 4 times a day.
Children under 2 years: 20 mg (0.3 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops) 4 times a day, up to 240 mg/day (3.6 ml Simethicone Paediatric Drops).
Shake the bottle well before use. Flacol Pediatric Drop can be taken after meals and before bedtime, and can be given with infant feeds.
Interaction
There is no evidence that Flacol Pediatric Drop affects other medications. However, the defoaming effect of Simethicone may be reduced by antacids like Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Carbonate, which absorb the silicone.
Contraindications
Flacol Pediatric Drop is not contraindicated for specific conditions at this time.
Side Effects
Flacol Pediatric Drop is generally well tolerated, and no significant side effects have been reported after oral use. Flacol Pediatric Drop is physiologically inert.
Pregnancy & Lactation
No harmful effects have been found during pregnancy. Excretion of Simethicone in breast milk has not been established, but Flacol Pediatric Drop is unlikely to occur.

Do not exceed 12 doses per day unless advised and supervised by a doctor.
