Indications

Triderm is used to treat skin infections caused by fungi, such as athlete’s foot, nail infections, infections in skin folds, and yeast infections like Candida. Triderm is also helpful for other fungal skin conditions like Pityriasis versicolor and erythrasma.

Pharmacology

Triderm works by damaging the outer layer of fungal cells. Triderm stops the production of ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane. This stops the fungus from growing and spreading. Besides killing fungi, Triderm also affects other body processes by blocking certain calcium channels, which contributes to its action beyond just treating fungal infections.

Dosage & Administration

Clotrimazole Cream: Apply a thin layer 2-3 times daily to the affected area. A small amount is usually enough for an area about the size of your palm. For the best results, apply Triderm for a long enough time. The treatment duration depends on how bad the infection is and where Triderm is located.

Recommended treatment duration:

  • Dermatomycoses: 3-4 weeks
  • Candida vulvitis and Candida balanitis: 1-2 weeks
  • Erythrasma and Pityriasis Versicolor: around 3 weeks
  • For foot infections: continue treatment for about 2 weeks after the infection clears to prevent Triderm from coming back.

Clotrimazole Topical Solution: Apply sparingly to the affected area 2-3 times daily.
