Indications
Alprax XR 1 is used for treating anxiety disorders, providing short-term relief of anxiety, treating anxiety related to depression, and managing panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.
Pharmacology
Alprax XR 1 is a type of drug called benzodiazepine. Alprax XR 1 works by interacting with a specific part of the brain that helps reduce anxiety. Alprax XR 1 can also have calming and muscle-relaxing effects, and Alprax XR 1 may affect the brain in a way that leads to drowsiness or sleepiness depending on the dose.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: The treatment usually starts with a dose of 0.25 to 0.5 mg three times a day. The dose can be increased gradually based on how the person responds, but Alprax XR 1 should not exceed 4 mg per day. Some patients with panic disorder may need up to 10 mg per day, but this requires regular reassessment by a doctor.
Elderly patients: The starting dose is usually 0.25 mg two or three times a day, and Alprax XR 1 can be adjusted based on tolerance and need.
The medication should be taken whole and not chewed, crushed, or broken.
Interaction
Taking Alprax XR 1 with other drugs that depress the central nervous system, such as psychotropic drugs, anticonvulsants, antihistamines, alcohol, or oral contraceptives, may increase its sedative effects.

Side Effects

Overdose Effects
Overdosing on Alprax XR 1 may cause sleepiness, confusion, poor coordination, slow reflexes, and even coma. Immediate medical help should be sought, and gastric lavage may be needed in case of overdose.
