Indications
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is used to treat different types of arthritis, including inflammation and wear-and-tear forms of rheumatism, polyarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, gout, and peri-articular rheumatic disorders.
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is also used for sprains, bruises, dislocations, fractures, soft tissue injuries, and recovery from surgery.
In gynecology, Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is used for pain during menstruation, after episiotomy, and conditions like adnexitis, endometritis, salpingitis, and mastitis.
In ear, nose, and throat treatments, Voltalin 12.5 Suppository helps prevent pain, swelling, and inflammation before surgery.
In dentistry, Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is used for post-surgical and post-trauma pain, swelling, and inflammation.
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is also used to prevent and treat pain, inflammation, and swelling after surgery in the urogenital tract, or in cases of kidney and bile-related pain.
Pharmacology
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is a strong anti-inflammatory drug that also relieves pain and reduces fever. Voltalin 12.5 Suppository works by stopping the production of prostaglandins, substances that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is quickly absorbed after being taken, especially when taken with or after food, and reaches its peak effect in about 2 hours. Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is mostly bound to plasma proteins and is metabolized in the liver.
Dosage & Administration
Diclofenac FC Tablet: For adults, 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 doses, preferably after food. The dose may be lowered for long-term use.
Diclofenac SR Tablet: For adults, 1 tablet daily, taken whole with water, preferably during meals. The dose may be increased to 150 mg if needed. For children, 1-3 mg per kg of body weight daily in divided doses. Elderly patients should use the lowest effective dose.
Diclofenac Dispersible Tablet: For adults, 2-3 tablets daily, not exceeding 150 mg. In milder cases, 2 tablets may be enough. Children may use Voltalin 12.5 Suppository for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at a dose of 1-3 mg per kg of body weight. Dissolve the tablet in half a glass of water before swallowing.
Diclofenac TR Capsule: One capsule daily, preferably after meals.
Diclofenac Suppository: For adults, 50 mg, 2-3 times daily. Maximum daily dose is 150 mg.
Diclofenac Injection: For adults, 1 ampoule daily. In serious cases, the dose can be increased to 2 ampoules daily.
Diclofenac Gel: Apply 2-4 g to the affected area 3-4 times daily. Rub Voltalin 12.5 Suppository in lightly. Voltalin 12.5 Suppository can be used with other forms of Diclofenac treatment.
Interaction
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository may increase levels of lithium and digoxin in the blood.
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository can increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulants.
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository does not affect the action of oral diabetes medications.
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository may cause kidney problems when taken with cyclosporine.
Taking Voltalin 12.5 Suppository with methotrexate within 24 hours may increase toxicity.
Convulsions may occur if Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is taken with quinolone antibiotics, so caution is needed.
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository should not be used with other NSAIDs or steroids unless directed by a doctor, as this can increase side effects.
Contraindications
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository should not be used by people allergic to any of its ingredients. Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is also not recommended for people with peptic ulcers or asthma triggered by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository should not be used under airtight dressings for the gel form.
Side Effects
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is usually well tolerated. Side effects are rare and mild, like stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, or headache. Skin reactions such as rash and swelling can also occur. The gel may cause skin irritation, redness, or rash.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary and at the lowest effective dose. Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is not recommended during the first trimester. A small amount may pass into breast milk, but Voltalin 12.5 Suppository is unlikely to affect the baby.
Precautions & Warnings
Voltalin 12.5 Suppository should be used with caution in people who have a history of ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding. Elderly patients should be monitored closely. The gel should not come in contact with the eyes or mucous membranes, and hands should be washed after use.
