Indications

Bislol Plus 5 is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

Pharmacology

Bislol Plus 5 is a combination of two medicines: Bisoprolol Fumarate and Hydrochlorothiazide. Bisoprolol Fumarate helps lower blood pressure by blocking specific receptors in the heart, while Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic (water pill) that helps reduce fluid buildup in the body. These two medicines work together to lower blood pressure more effectively. Bisoprolol Fumarate mainly targets the heart, while Hydrochlorothiazide helps remove extra salt and water from the body, which further reduces blood pressure.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: Take one tablet once a day, either with or without food, as directed by the doctor. The dose may range from 2.5 mg/6.25 mg to 20 mg/12.5 mg depending on the individual’s response to the medication. Start with a lower dose and adjust if needed.

For Switching to This Combination: This combination can replace the separate medicines if you are already taking Bisoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide.

Interaction

Bislol Plus 5 may enhance the effects of other blood pressure-lowering medications. Avoid combining Bislol Plus 5 with other beta-blockers. Be cautious if you are taking certain drugs that affect the heart, such as calcium blockers or antiarrhythmic medications. Also, this medicine should be used carefully in combination with other medications that affect the heart rate.

Contraindications

Bislol Plus 5 should not be used by people with heart failure, severe heart block, low heart rate, low blood pressure, or severe kidney problems. Bislol Plus 5 should also be avoided if you are allergic to either Bisoprolol Fumarate, Hydrochlorothiazide, or sulfonamide-based drugs.

Side Effects

Bislol Plus 5 is usually well tolerated, but some may experience dizziness, tiredness, headaches, slow heart rate, or digestive issues. Other less common side effects may include chest pain, irregular heartbeats, or cold hands and feet.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy: Bislol Plus 5 should only be used during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks to the baby. There are no enough studies to confirm its safety in pregnancy.

Lactation: Bislol Plus 5 is not known if this combination passes into breast milk, so Bislol Plus 5 should be used cautiously during breastfeeding. Speak with your doctor about whether to stop breastfeeding or the medication.

Precautions & Warnings

People with gout, kidney disease, or those at risk of low potassium should use this medicine with caution. Symptoms of electrolyte imbalance, such as dizziness, muscle cramps, or weakness, should be reported to a doctor. Tapering off the medication may be necessary before stopping Bislol Plus 5 entirely.

Overdose Effects

Overdose symptoms may include slow heart rate, low blood pressure, dizziness, or severe tiredness. Severe cases can lead to confusion, difficulty breathing, or even coma. Immediate medical attention is needed in case of overdose.
