Indications
Amdocal 2.5 is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Amdocal 2.5 can be taken alone or with other medications to lower blood pressure.
Amdocal 2.5 is also used for treating chest pain (angina) and can be used alone or with other medications for this purpose.
Amdocal 2.5 is used for treating a type of chest pain called vasospastic angina, either by itself or with other medicines.
Pharmacology
Amdocal 2.5 is a medication that works by blocking calcium channels in the blood vessels and heart. Amdocal 2.5 helps relax and widen blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and helps the heart pump more effectively. This leads to improved oxygen supply to the heart and better heart function.
Dosage & Administration
High blood pressure: The usual dose is 5 mg once a day. The maximum dose is 10 mg once a day. For older patients or those with liver problems, the starting dose is 2.5 mg once a day.
Angina: The dose is usually between 5 to 10 mg, with lower doses recommended for older patients or those with liver problems.
Amdocal 2.5 can be taken with or without food.
Interaction
Amdocal 2.5 is important to avoid combining Amdocal 2.5 with certain medications, especially if the patient has serious heart conditions. Always consult with a doctor before combining Amdocal 2.5 with other drugs like digoxin, cimetidine, or warfarin. Food does not affect how Amdocal 2.5 is absorbed in the body.
Contraindications
Amdocal 2.5 should not be used by people who are allergic to calcium-channel blockers or are pregnant.
Side Effects
Common side effects include dizziness, flushing, headaches, low blood pressure, and swelling of the feet or ankles. Some people may also experience stomach problems, feeling tired, eye pain, or depression. In some cases, Amdocal 2.5 may cause chest pain to worsen or lead to a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Pregnancy & Lactation
If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Amdocal 2.5. Amdocal 2.5 should only be used during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks to the baby. Amdocal 2.5 is not known if Amdocal 2.5 passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding should be stopped while using this medication.

Overdose Effects
Symptoms of overdose may include very low blood pressure, fast heart rate, dizziness, or even shock. Treatment may involve giving medications to raise blood pressure and providing other supportive care. In some cases, using calcium gluconate or gastric lavage may help reverse the effects of overdose.
