Indications

Acidrox M is used to relieve symptoms like indigestion, heartburn, acid reflux, sour stomach, and hiatal hernia. Acidrox M also helps with bloating, and conditions like peptic ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis. Acidrox M may be given to children if needed.

Pharmacology

Acidrox M is a complex of hydroxymagnesium aluminate that is quickly changed in stomach acid to magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) and aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH)3). These are poorly absorbed and help to provide long-lasting antacid effects.

Dosage & Administration

Tablet: Take 1-3 tablets after meals and before bed or as directed by your doctor.

Syrup: Take 2-3 teaspoonfuls 3 or 4 times a day, half to one hour after meals and before bed.

Contraindications

Acidrox M is contraindicated for patients with allergies to magnesium or aluminum. Acidrox M should not be used by those with kidney problems.

Side Effects

Side effects may include constipation or diarrhea.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Acidrox M can be used during pregnancy if necessary, but excessive dosage should be avoided. Acidrox M may pass into breast milk, but Acidrox M has not been shown to cause harm to nursing babies.
