Indications

Acliz is used to treat nausea, vomiting, motion sickness, and vertigo.

Pharmacology

Acliz has properties that prevent nausea, act as an anticholinergic, and block histamine. Acliz works by reducing the sensitivity in the balance organs in the inner ear, and the effect may happen through nerves that reach the vomiting center in the brain. Acliz starts working in 30 to 60 minutes and lasts for 12 to 24 hours, depending on the dose.

Dosage & Administration

Adults & Children over 12 years: For nausea and vomiting: 25-50 mg once daily. For motion sickness: Take 25-50 mg 1 hour before travel. You can repeat the dose every 24 hours during the trip. For vertigo: 25-100 mg daily in divided doses.

Children: 6-12 years: 12.5 mg once daily. 2-6 years: 6.25 mg once daily.

Radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting: 50 mg 2-12 hours before radiotherapy.

Emergency contraception: 25-50 mg, 1 hour before the first dose; repeat if needed after 24 hours.

Use in children: Safety and effectiveness in children have not been studied, so a physician should decide if Acliz should be used.

Use in elderly: No specific information is available, but older people might be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine.

Interaction

Acliz may increase the effects of CNS depressants, neuroleptics, and anticholinergic drugs. Alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers may make the patient feel sleepier.

Contraindications

Acliz should not be used by people who are allergic to Acliz or any of its ingredients.

Side Effects

The most common side effects are drowsiness, dry mouth, and occasionally blurred vision.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Acliz does not appear to cause birth defects or other problems during pregnancy. Although Acliz may pass into breast milk, Acliz does not harm breastfeeding babies.

Precautions & Warnings

People with asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, enlarged prostate, glaucoma, or urinary tract problems should use Acliz with caution, just like with other anti-nausea medications.

Overdose Effects

Overdose symptoms may include extreme excitability, seizures, drowsiness, and hallucinations. Treatment involves providing support and symptomatic care, and dialysis may be considered.
