Indications
Adegra 25 is used to treat men with erectile dysfunction, which is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection for satisfactory sexual performance. For Adegra 25 to work, sexual stimulation is needed. Adegra 25 is also used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension.
Pharmacology
Adegra 25 works by increasing the levels of cGMP in the penis when sexual stimulation occurs. This helps relax the muscles and allows more blood to flow into the penis. Adegra 25 does this by blocking the enzyme PDE5, which normally breaks down cGMP. Adegra 25 has no effect on its own without sexual stimulation. The body processes Adegra 25 mainly in the liver, and Adegra 25 lasts about 4 hours in the system.
Dosage & Administration
Erectile Dysfunction: The usual dose is 50 mg, taken about 1 hour before sexual activity. Adegra 25 can be taken anytime between 4 hours and 30 minutes before sex. The dose can be adjusted between 25 mg and 100 mg depending on effectiveness and tolerance. Adegra 25 can be taken once a day at most.
Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: The usual dose is 20 mg, taken three times a day, with or without food.
Interaction
Adegra 25 is mainly processed by certain enzymes in the liver. Drugs that affect these enzymes can change how Adegra 25 works. Some medicines, like ketoconazole and erythromycin, can increase its levels in the body, while others, like rifampin, can decrease its levels. Adegra 25 should not be taken with nitrates or nitric oxide donors, as this can lower blood pressure too much. Taking Adegra 25 with some other medications, like alpha-blockers, may also lower blood pressure and cause dizziness.
Contraindications
Adegra 25 should not be used by anyone allergic to any of its ingredients or by those taking nitrates, as Adegra 25 can dangerously lower blood pressure.
Side Effects
Common side effects include face swelling, headache, dizziness, and stomach pain. Adegra 25 can also cause heart problems, vision issues, and prolonged or painful erections.
