Indications
AFM Plus is indicated for treating inflammation caused by bacterial infections in the front part of the eye. AFM Plus is also used after eye surgery to prevent infection.
Pharmacology
Gentamicin is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group. AFM Plus works against a wide range of bacteria, including those like Pseudomonas aeruginosa and E. coli. AFM Plus stops bacteria from making proteins, which they need to survive. Fluorometholone is a steroid that reduces inflammation. Together, they treat bacterial infections and reduce swelling, while also preventing worsening infections due to the steroid.
Dosage & Administration
Sterile Ophthalmic Suspension:
Bacterial infection: Apply 1 drop into the eye 5 times a day. In severe cases, increase to 1 drop every hour for 1-2 days.
Post-surgery infection: Apply 1 drop 4 times a day for 1 week, then reduce frequency.
Sterile Eye Ointment:
Bacterial infection: Apply 3-4 times daily.
Post-surgery infection: Apply ointment at night along with the ophthalmic suspension.

Contraindications
AFM Plus should not be used if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Do not use if you have corneal injuries, viral infections like Herpes simplex, eye tuberculosis, or glaucoma.
Side Effects
You may feel a temporary burning sensation after using AFM Plus. Rarely, allergic reactions like eyelid eczema and eye inflammation can happen. Prolonged use may delay wound healing, increase eye pressure, cause cataracts, or thin the cornea and sclera.
Pregnancy & Lactation
There are no controlled studies in humans. AFM Plus is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary.
Precautions & Warnings
Steroids may worsen or activate eye infections. Long-term use can thin the cornea and sclera and may even cause the cornea to rupture. If no improvement is seen within 7-8 days, consult a doctor for other treatment options. Avoid driving or using machinery if vision is blurry after using this product. Remove contact lenses before applying.
