Aire
Form: Tablet
Strength: 1mg
Generic Name: Levosalbutamol
Company: Delta Pharma Limited
MRP:৳ 0.9 (Tablet)
Is Antibiotic: No
Indications
Aire is used to treat or prevent bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways) in adults, teenagers, and children aged 6 years and older who have reversible obstructive airway disease.
Pharmacology
Aire is a beta 2-agonist that works as a bronchodilator. Unlike racemic salbutamol, Aire only contains the active isomer, which leads to effective bronchodilation with fewer side effects. This makes Aire a good option for treating asthma with fewer beta-related side effects.
Dosage & Administration
Tablet:
Adults and adolescents above 12 years: 1-2 mg three times daily.
Children (6 – 11 years): 1 mg three times daily.
Syrup:
Adults: 5-10 ml three times daily.
Children (6 – 11 years): 5 ml three times daily.
Interaction
Other short-acting bronchodilators or epinephrine should be used cautiously with Aire. If additional adrenergic drugs are needed, they should be used carefully to avoid heart problems.
Contraindications
Aire is not recommended for people who are allergic to levosalbutamol or any of its ingredients.
Side Effects
Possible side effects include low calcium levels, palpitations, muscle tremors, and muscle cramps. Other side effects can be nausea, vomiting, chest pain, and diarrhea.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This medicine should only be used during pregnancy if the benefit outweighs the potential risk to the baby. Aire is unknown whether Aire is passed through breast milk, so caution is advised when breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
Caution is advised in patients with severe asthma, especially if treated with other medications like steroids. Monitoring of potassium levels is recommended in these cases.
Overdose Effects
Symptoms of overdose include excessive stimulation of the heart and the side effects mentioned earlier. In cases of serious overdose, the stomach may need to be emptied, and a beta-blocker may be given with care in patients with a history of bronchospasm.
Therapeutic Class
Short-acting selective β2-adrenoceptor stimulants.
Storage Conditions
Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place, away from light.
