Indications
Alcadin is used to prevent itching caused by allergic conjunctivitis. Alcadin works as an H1 receptor blocker in a sterile solution for eye use.
Pharmacology
Alcadin is an eye drop that blocks histamine receptors and stops histamine from being released from mast cells. Alcadin also blocks H2 and H4 histamine receptors, which helps reduce inflammation. By blocking histamine, Alcadin relieves early allergic eye symptoms like itching, while also preventing the release of substances that cause late allergic reactions.
Dosage & Administration
Adults & Children (2 years and older): Put one drop in each eye once daily.

Alcadin should not be used by anyone allergic to any of its ingredients.
Side Effects
Common side effects include eye irritation, burning, redness, itching, sore throat, and headache.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Classified as Pregnancy Category B. There are no well-controlled studies in pregnant women, so Alcadin should only be used if absolutely necessary. Alcadin is unknown if Alcadin passes into breast milk, so caution is advised for nursing mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
To prevent contamination or injury, avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, including the eye. Do not use this if your eyes are red due to contact lenses. Remove contact lenses before applying the drops and wait at least 10 minutes before reinserting them. If using multiple eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes between applications.
