Indications
Aleena 4 is used as an oral contraceptive for women to prevent pregnancy.
Pharmacology
Aleena 4 is a progestin that helps prevent pregnancy by stopping ovulation. Aleena 4 is a type of hormone similar to spironolactone that helps balance water and salt in the body. Aleena 4 works by suppressing ovulation, which lowers the chance of getting pregnant.
Absorption
When taken, Aleena 4 is absorbed into the bloodstream. Aleena 4 reaches its highest level in the blood about 2-6 hours after being taken, and stays in the body for about 30 hours. Food doesn’t affect how well Aleena 4 is absorbed.
Distribution
Aleena 4 is mostly bound to albumin in the blood and doesn’t bind to other proteins like sex hormone-binding globulin. Its distribution in the body is around 4 liters per kilogram of body weight.
Metabolism
Aleena 4 is broken down in the body into inactive substances that don’t affect the body. Aleena 4 is processed mainly by the liver, and is metabolized by enzymes in the body.
Excretion
Aleena 4 leaves the body mostly through the urine and some in the feces. Aleena 4 stays in the body for about 10 days before being fully removed.
Dosage & Administration
Adult Women: Take one tablet daily, starting with one white tablet for the first 24 days, followed by one light pink tablet for the next 4 days. Take each tablet at the same time every day.
Starting Drospirenone: If you are not using any hormonal contraception, start taking Aleena 4 on the first day of your period. Take one white tablet every day for 24 days, then take one light pink tablet for the next 4 days. Start the next pack on the same day of the week as the first cycle.
Interaction
Some medicines can lower the effect of Aleena 4, like efavirenz, phenytoin, and certain antibiotics. If you are taking medicines that may lower its effectiveness, use another form of contraception or a backup method for 28 days after stopping the other medicine.
Contraindications
Aleena 4 is not suitable for women with kidney issues, adrenal problems, certain cancers, liver conditions, or abnormal bleeding.
Side Effects
Possible side effects include acne, headaches, breast pain, weight gain, nausea, and changes in menstrual cycles. These side effects may be mild and go away after a while.
Pregnancy & Lactation
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using Aleena 4. If you get pregnant while using Aleena 4, stop taking Aleena 4. Only small amounts pass into breast milk, and Aleena 4’s not likely to affect your baby.
Precautions & Warnings
Check your potassium levels if you have kidney issues or are taking other medicines that may raise potassium levels. Also, if you have a history of blood clots or are pregnant, discuss Aleena 4 with your doctor before using Aleena 4.
