Indications
Alflam is used to treat various types of arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gout. Alflam also helps with conditions like juvenile arthritis, low back pain, menstrual cramps, fever, migraines, and soft tissue injuries. Alflam is effective for pain and inflammation caused by dental and muscle problems.
Pharmacology
Alflam works by reducing pain, swelling, and stiffness. Alflam blocks an enzyme called cyclooxygenase, which reduces the production of chemicals that cause inflammation and pain in the body. This makes Alflam effective in treating conditions like arthritis by improving joint movement and reducing pain.
Dosage & Administration
Oral dosage form:
Adults: Start with 400 mg three times a day. Do not exceed 2400 mg daily.
Children:
For children 3-6 months (over 5 kg), give 2.5 ml three times a day; maximum 30 mg/kg daily. The dosage increases slightly for older children, but should not exceed 30 mg/kg per day.
Topical gel:
For adults, apply 4-10 cm of gel to the affected area up to four times a day. Make sure to massage Alflam in until absorbed. Do not use Alflam more than every four hours, and avoid using Alflam on broken skin or near eyes.
Children: Alflam is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
