Indications

Aloglip 12.5 is used along with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type-2 diabetes mellitus.

Pharmacology

Aloglip 12.5 is a DPP-4 inhibitor that works by increasing the levels of hormones that help regulate blood sugar. These hormones, such as GLP-1 and GIP, are released from the small intestine after eating and help release insulin from the pancreas. These hormones also reduce sugar production in the liver. In type 2 diabetes, the body has lower levels of GLP-1, but the response to Aloglip 12.5 remains active.

Dosage & Administration

The usual dose is 25 mg once a day for patients with normal kidney function or mild kidney problems, or as directed by the doctor.

Interaction

Aloglip 12.5 is mainly removed by the kidneys. There are no major drug interactions observed with other drugs that affect the liver or kidneys.

Aloglip 12.5 should not be used by patients who have had serious allergic reactions to Alogliptin or similar products, such as anaphylaxis or severe skin reactions.

Precautions & Warnings

Serious allergic reactions and liver problems have been reported, so if you notice unusual symptoms, seek medical advice. If used with other diabetes medications like insulin or sulfonylurea, a lower dose of those may be needed to prevent low blood sugar.

Overdose Effects

In case of overdose, Aloglip 12.5 is important to monitor the patient and provide supportive care. If needed, treatment may include removing the unabsorbed drug from the stomach. However, dialysis is unlikely to be helpful in removing the drug from the body.
