Indications

Alpatin is used to treat allergic conditions of the eye, especially those affecting the front part of the eye.

Pharmacology

Alpatin is an antihistamine that works by blocking both histamine H1 and H2 receptors. Alpatin also helps stabilize mast cells and prevents the release of chemicals that cause inflammation. Alpatin does not affect the brain, so Alpatin is not likely to cause side effects on the nervous system.

Dosage & Administration

Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) twice a day.

Contraindications

Alpatin is not recommended for patients who are allergic to Epinastine or any of its components.

Side Effects

Common side effects are mild burning sensations, hair follicle irritation, redness, itching, cold-like symptoms, and upper respiratory infections.

Pregnancy & Lactation

There are no well-controlled studies on pregnant women. Alpatin should only be used during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Alpatin is unknown if Alpatin passes into breast milk, so caution is advised when used by breastfeeding mothers.

Precautions & Warnings

For external eye use only. Patients should avoid wearing contact lenses if their eyes are red.

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool, dry place, away from light. Do not use more than one month after opening. Keep out of reach of children.
