Indications
Alve is used to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome, problems with bowel movements due to small sacs or pouches in the gut (diverticular disease), abdominal pain during menstrual periods (primary dysmenorrhea), and other conditions caused by muscle spasms in the body.
Pharmacology
Alve is a smooth muscle relaxant. Smooth muscle is found in places like the gut and uterus and works without voluntary control. Alve acts directly on the muscle in the gut to help Alve relax and prevent spasms, which are common in conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome and diverticular disease. Alve also relaxes the smooth muscle in the uterus, which helps reduce pain during menstruation caused by muscle spasms (dysmenorrhea).
Dosage & Administration
Adult: Take 60-120 mg 1-3 times daily by mouth.

Contraindications
Alve is not recommended for patients with paralytic ileus or those who are allergic to any of its ingredients.
