Ambroxol can be used in chronic pneumonia and other related conditions.

Pharmacology

Ambroxol is a product of bromhexine and works better than bromhexine itself to help clear mucus from the lungs. Ambroxol thins the mucus in the airways, making Ambroxol easier to cough up, which helps to breathe better. Ambroxol also helps produce substances in the lungs that help keep them open. Additionally, Ambroxol has anti-inflammatory effects that reduce inflammation in the airways, and Ambroxol helps improve airflow in people with chronic lung conditions like COPD.
