Indications

Rebuprofen is used to treat various types of arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gout. Rebuprofen also helps with conditions like juvenile arthritis, low back pain, menstrual cramps, fever, migraines, and soft tissue injuries. Rebuprofen is effective for pain and inflammation caused by dental and muscle problems.

Pharmacology

Rebuprofen works by reducing pain, swelling, and stiffness. Rebuprofen blocks an enzyme called cyclooxygenase, which reduces the production of chemicals that cause inflammation and pain in the body. This makes Rebuprofen effective in treating conditions like arthritis by improving joint movement and reducing pain.

Dosage & Administration

Oral dosage form:

Adults: Start with 400 mg three times a day. Do not exceed 2400 mg daily.

Children:

For children 3-6 months (over 5 kg), give 2.5 ml three times a day; maximum 30 mg/kg daily. The dosage increases slightly for older children, but should not exceed 30 mg/kg per day.

Topical gel:

For adults, apply 4-10 cm of gel to the affected area up to four times a day. Make sure to massage Rebuprofen in until absorbed. Do not use Rebuprofen more than every four hours, and avoid using Rebuprofen on broken skin or near eyes.

Children: Rebuprofen is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
