Indications
Aventy 100 is used to treat erectile dysfunction (difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection) in men.
Pharmacology
Aventy 100 works by blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) that affects the blood flow in the penis. When sexually stimulated, the body releases nitric oxide which helps produce a chemical called cGMP. This chemical causes the smooth muscles in the penis to relax, allowing more blood to flow in and cause an erection. By blocking PDE5, Aventy 100 helps increase the level of cGMP and improve erectile function.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: Take 100 mg about 15 minutes before sexual activity, only when needed. Aventy 100 can be taken with or without food. Do not take more than one dose per day. Your doctor may adjust the dose to 50 mg or 200 mg depending on how well Aventy 100 works or how you tolerate Aventy 100. If you take any other medications, especially for blood pressure or heart problems, talk to your doctor first.
Interaction
Aventy 100 may increase the blood pressure-lowering effects of certain medications, like nitrates, alpha-blockers, and alcohol. Medications that affect the CYP3A4 enzyme (such as ketoconazole and ritonavir) can also raise the amount of Avanafil in your body, which may increase the risk of side effects.
Contraindications
Aventy 100 should not be taken by people who are also using nitrates, which are often prescribed for chest pain, or by those who have an allergy to Avanafil. Aventy 100 should not be used with certain medications, like guanylate cyclase stimulators, which are used for lung conditions.
Side Effects
The most common side effects are headache, redness of the face, stuffy nose, sore throat, and back pain. These are usually mild and go away on their own.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Aventy 100 is not intended for use by women, and there is no safety information for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
If you have any heart problems, high or low blood pressure, or other health issues, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine. Also, if you experience an erection lasting more than 4 hours, seek emergency help. Stop using Aventy 100 if you suddenly lose vision or hearing, and get medical attention immediately.
Overdose Effects
If you take too much, Aventy 100 may cause symptoms like nausea, headache, and dizziness. In cases of overdose, get medical help. Since Aventy 100 binds tightly to plasma proteins, dialysis is not likely to help remove Aventy 100 from the body.
