Indications
Calson is used to treat calcium deficiency, especially in growing children, pregnant and breastfeeding women. Calson helps with symptoms of low calcium like numbness, muscle cramps, muscle spasms, convulsions, mental changes, skin issues, and changes in ECG.
Pharmacology
This preparation has three main actions: Calson adds calcium to the diet, neutralizes stomach acid in peptic ulcer disease, and reduces phosphorus levels in the body, especially in chronic kidney failure. Calcium Lactate helps lower phosphate levels and ensures calcium is deposited in bones and soft tissues.
Dosage & Administration
Adults including elderly: 1-2 tablets (300 mg-600 mg) daily.
Children over 3 years: 1 tablet (300 mg) daily.
Pregnant women: 3-4 tablets (900-1200 mg) daily during the third trimester and lactation.
Interaction
Calson may lower the effect of calcium-channel blockers. When taken with cardiac glycosides, Calson can cause serious issues. There is a higher risk of high calcium levels when used with thiazide diuretics. Calson may also interfere with the absorption of certain drugs like tetracycline, alendronate, iron, and others.
Contraindications
Calson is not recommended for patients with high calcium levels, sarcoidosis, or bone metastasis related to cancer.
Side Effects
Taking Calcium Lactate may cause mild stomach irritation or constipation, but these side effects are rare.
