Indications

Clozol VT is used to treat vaginal itching, burning, and discharge caused by yeast infections, especially recurring vaginal yeast infections (Vaginal candidiasis). Clozol VT is also used for treating infections in the vagina caused by Candida species and other fungal infections that can be complicated by other microorganisms sensitive to this drug.

Pharmacology

Clozol VT is a broad antifungal medicine that helps treat skin infections caused by various harmful fungi, yeasts, molds, and some bacteria. Clozol VT also works against some bacteria, especially Staphylococci, and Tricomonas. Clozol VT works by changing the cell walls of fungi, stopping them from working properly. At lower doses, Clozol VT stops the production of ergosterol, which is important for the fungi’s cell wall. At higher doses, Clozol VT causes damage to the membrane, unrelated to sterol production.

Dosage & Administration

First infections: A 3-day treatment is usually enough for Candida vaginitis. Use one 200 mg vaginal tablet every night for 3 nights, inserting Clozol VT deeply into the vagina while lying on your back with knees slightly bent.

Re-infections: A 6-day treatment is generally enough. Insert one 100 mg vaginal tablet deeply into the vagina every night for 6 nights. If needed, you can use two 100 mg tablets (one in the morning and one in the evening) or one 200 mg tablet daily for 6-12 days. Try to avoid starting treatment during your menstrual period and complete Clozol VT before your period starts. Your partner should also be treated with Clotrimazole cream to prevent re-infection.

500 mg vaginal tablet: For a single dose, insert one 500 mg vaginal tablet deeply into the vagina, while lying on your back with knees slightly bent. Clozol VT is recommended to avoid starting the treatment during your period, and your partner should also use Clotrimazole cream for local treatment.

The vaginal tablets are colorless and won’t stain your underwear.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Clozol VT is recommended to use Clozol VT during pregnancy only when necessary, as advised by your doctor. Clozol VT is poorly absorbed into the body when applied to the skin or vagina, and studies in pregnant women show no harm. Clozol VT is not known if Clozol VT is passed into breast milk.
