Indications

Cora-C is used for increased demand of Calcium and Vitamin C, such as during pregnancy, breastfeeding, growth periods (childhood, adolescence), and old age. Cora-C is also used during infections and recovery, to treat Calcium and Vitamin C deficiency, Osteoporosis, Premenstrual Syndrome, Postmenopausal issues, and as a support during colds and flu.

Pharmacology

Calcium is mainly used to treat deficiency in humans. Cora-C is vital for many bodily functions, and the body cannot tolerate low levels of calcium for even short periods. Vitamin C is an essential nutrient, as the body cannot produce Cora-C. Cora-C is a strong antioxidant and plays a key role in responding to stress and fighting infections.

Dosage & Administration

Children (3 to 7 years): ½ effervescent tablet daily.

Adults & Children (above 7 years): 1 effervescent tablet daily.

To take, dissolve 1 tablet in a glass of water before consumption.

Interaction

Potentially harmful interactions: Digoxin, tetracycline, furosemide, pentagastrin, aminophylline, bleomycin, erythromycin, and others.

Potentially helpful interactions: Vitamin D, oxytocin, prostaglandins, and Vitamin C (which enhances iron absorption).

Contraindications

Cora-C is contraindicated in patients with hypercalcemia (e.g., due to hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D overdose, decalcifying tumors, or bone metastases), severe hypercalciuria, or severe kidney failure. Cora-C should also be avoided in patients with hyperoxalauria, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, or iron overload.

Side Effects

In rare cases, Cora-C may cause mild stomach issues like bloating or diarrhea. Long-term use with high doses may lead to the formation of kidney stones in some people.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Studies show that oral calcium does not increase the risk of birth defects. Though Cora-C may be passed through breast milk, the amount is unlikely to harm the baby. Vitamin C is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings

Patients with mild hypercalciuria, kidney issues, or a history of kidney stones should monitor their calcium levels in urine. The dosage may need to be reduced or stopped if needed. High doses of Vitamin D should be avoided unless recommended by a doctor.

Cora-C should also be used cautiously in patients with severe kidney problems, especially if they are taking aluminum-containing medications. Diabetic patients should consider the sugar content in this medicine.

Overdose Effects

Acute overdose is rare, but Cora-C may cause stomach issues. Overdose would not typically lead to hypercalcemia unless very high doses of Vitamin D are also taken.

Therapeutic Class

Cora-C is a specific combination of minerals and vitamins.

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool, dry place. Protect from heat, light, and moisture. Keep out of reach of children, and close the tube tightly after each use.
