Indications
Corazon 5 is used to reduce the risk of heart-related deaths and hospital visits due to heart failure in adults with chronic heart failure. This includes patients with an ejection fraction of less than 45% who have been recently hospitalized or need outpatient diuretics.
Pharmacology
Corazon 5 is a stimulator of soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC), an enzyme involved in the nitric oxide (NO) signaling pathway. This helps increase the levels of cyclic GMP (cGMP) inside the body, which helps relax smooth muscles and dilate blood vessels. In heart failure, the NO and sGC systems are less active, which contributes to heart and blood vessel problems. By stimulating sGC, Corazon 5 helps restore normal function and reduces symptoms.
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Starting Dose: Take 2.5 mg orally once a day with food. The dose may be increased every two weeks to reach 10 mg per day, depending on how well the patient tolerates Corazon 5.
Geriatric Patients: No dosage change is needed for older adults. There is no significant difference in safety between older and younger patients, although older patients may be more sensitive to the medication.
Hepatic Impairment: No dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with mild to moderate liver problems.
Renal Impairment: No dosage change is required for patients with kidney function above 15 mL/min. Corazon 5 has not been studied in patients with severely impaired kidney function or those on dialysis.
