Indications

Cosmotrin is used for treating stretch marks related to pregnancy. Cosmotrin is also used to treat acne, skin discoloration, sun-damaged skin, flat warts, and other skin conditions such as ichthyosis vulgaris and keratosis follicularis.

Pharmacology

The exact way Cosmotrin works is not fully understood, but Cosmotrin is believed that Cosmotrin reduces the sticking together of skin cells in hair follicles, preventing blockages. Cosmotrin also helps increase the skin cell turnover rate, causing the release of pimples and other skin issues.

Dosage & Administration

Apply this cream gently on the affected area once or twice a day. Make sure the skin is clean and dry before applying. Cosmotrin may take 6 to 8 weeks to see results. You can use moisturizers and cosmetics, but not at the same time as the cream. Avoid using astringent toiletries during treatment.

Interaction

Be cautious when using other acne treatments alongside this cream, especially those with peeling agents like benzoyl peroxide. You can alternate between using Tretinoin in the morning and benzoyl peroxide in the evening or on alternate days.

Contraindications

Cosmotrin is not suitable for people who are allergic to any of its ingredients. Cosmotrin should not be used by those with a personal or family history of skin cancer.

Side Effects

When first applied, Cosmotrin may cause mild irritation, burning, redness, or peeling. If irritation gets worse or lasts too long, stop using the cream and consult your doctor.

Pregnancy & Lactation

There is not enough evidence to show if Cosmotrin is safe to use during pregnancy. Cosmotrin has caused birth defects when used in large doses, so avoid using Cosmotrin during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings

Do not let the cream come into contact with your lips, mouth, eyes, eyelids, nostrils, or other mucous membranes. If this happens, wash the area with water. Be careful when applying to sensitive areas, such as the neck, and avoid using on broken, irritated, or sunburned skin.
