Indications

Coveram 4/10 is used as a substitute treatment for high blood pressure and/or stable heart disease in patients who are already taking perindopril and amlodipine separately at the same dose. Coveram 4/10 should not be started as the first treatment.

Pharmacology

Coveram 4/10 is made of two medicines: Perindopril and Amlodipine. Perindopril helps lower blood pressure by blocking an enzyme (ACE), which reduces a hormone that can narrow blood vessels. This results in the vessels relaxing and blood pressure going down. Amlodipine works by blocking calcium from entering blood vessels, which relaxes and widens the vessels, helping blood flow more easily.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: Take one tablet per day, preferably in the morning before a meal. If needed, the dose can be adjusted by using the separate medicines of perindopril and amlodipine until the right dose is found.

Note: The treatment should not be started with this combination. Be cautious of food intake as Coveram 4/10 may affect how perindopril works.

Interaction

Coveram 4/10 is important to monitor blood pressure and kidney function, especially if combined with Baclofen or other blood pressure medications like nitroglycerine, as this may further lower blood pressure.

Coveram 4/10 is not suitable for patients who have had an allergic reaction to perindopril, amlodipine, or other similar medicines, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The common side effects include swelling, drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, changes in taste, numbness, vision problems, ringing in ears, and a few digestive issues like nausea or diarrhea. Muscle pain and tiredness may also occur.
