Indications

Coversyl 8 is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), stable coronary artery disease, and heart failure.

Pharmacology

Coversyl 8 is an ACE inhibitor that works by blocking an enzyme that causes blood vessels to narrow. By reducing this enzyme’s action, Coversyl 8 allows the blood vessels to relax and widen, which helps lower blood pressure.

Dosage & Administration

Hypertension: One tablet a day in the morning. The dose may be increased after 1 month if necessary.

Stable coronary artery disease: Start with one tablet daily for two weeks, then increase if tolerated.

Congestive heart failure: Start with a low dose under medical supervision, then increase if needed.

Elderly: Start with a low dose and adjust as necessary.

Interaction

May interact with diuretics, potassium supplements, and other drugs like lithium, NSAIDs, and antidiabetic medications. Consult your doctor about possible interactions.

Contraindications

Coversyl 8 is not suitable for people with a history of allergic reactions to Coversyl 8, or for children, pregnant women, or breastfeeding mothers.

Side Effects

Common side effects include cough, fatigue, headache, and mood changes. Less common side effects include upset stomach and rash. Rare effects include swelling, anemia, and changes in blood cell counts.
