Indications
Cozid IV/IM is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to Cozid IV/IM, including:
- Infections in the lungs (like pneumonia) caused by bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella spp., and others.
- Skin infections caused by bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.
- Infections in the urinary tract caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and others.
- Blood infections (septicemia) caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and others.
- Bone and joint infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and others.
- Gynecologic infections like endometritis caused by Escherichia coli.
- Abdominal infections caused by Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., and Staphylococcus aureus.
- Infections in the brain (like meningitis) caused by bacteria such as Haemophilus influenzae and Neisseria meningitidis.
Pharmacology
Cozid IV/IM is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that works by stopping bacteria from building their cell walls. Cozid IV/IM is effective against many types of bacteria, including some that are resistant to other antibiotics. Cozid IV/IM is also stable against beta-lactamases, which are enzymes that some bacteria use to resist antibiotics.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: The usual dose is 1 gram every 8 to 12 hours, given by injection. In some cases, the dose may be higher, especially for severe infections.
Elderly: The dose should usually not exceed 3 grams per day for elderly patients, especially those over 80 years old.
Children: For children over two months old, the dose is 30 to 100 mg/kg/day, divided into 2 or 3 doses. For children with more severe infections, the dose can be higher, up to 150 mg/kg/day.
Infants: The dose for infants is 25 to 60 mg/kg/day, divided into 2 doses.

Contraindications
Cozid IV/IM should not be used by people who are allergic to Cozid IV/IM or other cephalosporin antibiotics.
Side Effects
Common side effects include reactions at the injection site, allergic reactions (like rashes or itching), and stomach problems such as diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting. Some people may also experience headaches or dizziness.
Pregnancy & Lactation
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using Cozid IV/IM. There are no well-controlled studies on its use during pregnancy, so Cozid IV/IM should only be used if absolutely necessary. Cozid IV/IM is found in breast milk in low amounts, so a decision should be made whether to stop breastfeeding or stop the medication based on its importance to the mother.
Precautions & Warnings
If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to reduce your dose. Be cautious if you have a history of stomach problems, especially colitis.
Overdose Effects
In case of overdose, especially in patients with kidney problems, symptoms like seizures, confusion, or coma may occur. Immediate medical attention is needed if overdose is suspected.

Storage Conditions
Store Cozid IV/IM below 25°C, away from light and moisture. Once mixed, the solution should be used within 24 hours if stored at 2°-8°C.
