Indications

CRN 500 is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to CRN 500. These include:

  • Upper respiratory infections like sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis, and ear infections.
  • Lower respiratory infections like bronchitis and pneumonia.
  • Urinary tract infections such as cystitis and pyelonephritis.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections like abscesses and cellulitis.

The bacteria that are sensitive to CRN 500 include various types of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, E. coli, and others. Even some bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics may still be treated by CRN 500.

Pharmacology

CRN 500 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that works against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. CRN 500 attacks the bacterial cell wall, causing the bacteria to break apart and die. CRN 500 is effective even against bacteria that produce certain enzymes that usually make other antibiotics ineffective.

Adults: For urinary tract infections, take 500mg four times a day or 1g twice a day. For respiratory and skin infections, take 250mg to 500mg four times a day or 500mg to 1g twice a day, depending on the infection’s severity.

Children: The usual dose is 25-50mg/kg per day, divided into two or four doses.
