Indications

Crodex is used to treat scabies and itching.

Pharmacology

Crodex is a combination of two substances: Permethrin and Crotamiton. Permethrin works by paralyzing the pests, while Crotamiton helps with the itching and kills the scabies mites.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: Apply the lotion to the entire body, excluding the head and face. Make sure to cover the areas between the fingers and toes, under the nails, wrists, armpits, genitals, breasts, and buttocks. Leave Crodex on for 8 hours, then wash Crodex off.

Children over 2 years: Apply the lotion to the entire body except the head and face. Be sure to cover all the same areas as adults. Wash Crodex off after 8-12 hours.

The Elderly: Apply the lotion to the entire body, including the neck, face, ears, and scalp, while avoiding the eye area.

Children under 2 years: Only use this lotion on children under 2 years under medical supervision. Apply Crodex to the same areas as for older children, but avoid the mouth and eyes.

Interaction

Avoid using corticosteroids before applying this lotion as Crodex may make the scabies worse. The risk of interactions is low, but Crodex’s important to follow medical advice.

Contraindications

Crodex is not safe for people who are allergic to either Permethrin or Crotamiton.

Side Effects

Some people may feel a burning or stinging sensation, which usually goes away quickly. Other mild skin irritations like redness, itching, or rash can happen, but these are part of how scabies works.

Pregnancy & Lactation

This lotion is not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the first three months. Crodex is unknown if Crodex passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding mothers should avoid using Crodex around the nipple area.

Precautions & Warnings

Keep this lotion out of children’s reach. Do not get Crodex in your eyes, as Crodex can cause irritation. If Crodex gets in the eyes, rinse with water immediately. Nursing staff should consider wearing gloves when applying the lotion to avoid skin irritation.

Overdose Effects

No reports of overdose, but applying too much lotion may cause local irritation. If a child swallows the lotion, seek medical help immediately.

Storage Conditions

Store the lotion in a cool place (below 25°C) and keep Crodex out of direct sunlight.
