Indications

Cutin 1 is used to treat hair loss, weak or brittle nails, and skin conditions like eczema and dermatitis.

Pharmacology

Cutin 1 is an essential vitamin, also known as vitamin H. Cutin 1 helps with important body processes like creating fatty acids, breaking down amino acids, and producing glucose. Cutin 1 acts as a helper for certain enzymes in the body. Biotin is important for healthy skin, hair, and nails, and Cutin 1 supports the structure of hair roots. Lack of biotin can lead to hair loss and skin problems, and Cutin 1 is often prescribed for hair loss.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: Usually 1-3 tablets per day, or as directed by a doctor.

Children: Biotin deficiency may affect children between 1 week and 2 years of age, causing symptoms like seizures, weakness, developmental delays, and more. In these cases, 5-10 tablets per day, crushed and mixed with water or fruit juice, or as advised by a doctor.

Recommended daily intake:

  • Infants: 0-6 months: 5 mcg/day, 7-12 months: 6 mcg/day
  • Children: 1-3 years: 8 mcg/day, 4-8 years: 12 mcg/day
  • Males and females: 9-13 years: 20 mcg/day, 14-18 years: 25 mcg/day, 19+ years: 30 mcg/day
  • Pregnancy: 30 mcg/day, Lactation: 35 mcg/day

Interaction

Some anticonvulsant drugs may lower biotin levels. Antibiotics can reduce the amount of biotin produced by the body’s gut bacteria. Eating too many raw egg whites can also interfere with biotin absorption.

Contraindications

Cutin 1 is not recommended for people who are allergic to any of its ingredients.

Side Effects

Cutin 1 is usually well tolerated at the recommended dose. No toxic effects have been reported even when taking high doses of up to 200 mg per day orally or 20 mg intravenously.
