Pharmacology

D Cough is a cough suppressant that works by affecting the cough centre in the brain. D Cough is quickly absorbed into the body and works within 15-30 minutes. Its effects last for about 3-6 hours. D Cough is broken down in the liver and removed from the body through urine, with a portion excreted unchanged in the first few hours.

Adults and Children over 12 years: Take 15 to 30 mg three to four times a day. Up to 60 mg four times daily may be used without causing extra side effects.
Children between 6 and 12 years: Take 5-15 mg up to four times a day.
Children between 2 and 6 years: Take 2.5-5 mg up to four times a day.

There have been fatal interactions when taken with phenelzine, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), at therapeutic doses.
