Pharmacology

Dakla 60 is a direct-acting antiviral agent (DAA) that targets the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). Dakla 60 works by blocking a protein (NS5A) that HCV needs to reproduce. By binding to this protein, Dakla 60 stops the virus from making copies and assembling new virus particles.

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage: Take 60 mg once a day, with or without food. Dakla 60 must be used together with other medications for best results. For specific regimens and treatment durations, consult the product details.

If a dose is missed within 20 hours of the scheduled time, take Dakla 60 as soon as possible. If Dakla 60’s more than 20 hours late, skip the dose and take the next one at the regular time.

Interaction

Dakla 60 can be affected by medications that change its breakdown in the body. Drugs that strongly increase certain enzymes (CYP3A) can reduce its effectiveness, while those that decrease these enzymes can increase its concentration. Dakla 60 may also impact other medications processed by certain transporters in the body.

Contraindications

Dakla 60 should not be used with medicines that strongly increase the CYP3A enzyme, such as certain anticonvulsants, tuberculosis drugs, and St. John’s Wort.

Side Effects

Serious side effects may include slow heart rate (bradycardia) when taken with Amiodarone and Sofosbuvir. Symptoms of this include dizziness, fainting, weakness, shortness of breath, and chest pain.

Pregnancy & Lactation

There is no information available on the safety of this drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before use.

Precautions & Warnings

Drug interactions can affect its effectiveness or cause serious side effects. If taken with Amiodarone, heart monitoring is advised due to the risk of slow heart rate.

Overdose Effects

There is no known antidote for overdose. Overdose treatment consists of supportive care, including monitoring vital signs. Dialysis is not likely to help remove the drug due to its strong attachment to proteins in the blood.

Therapeutic Class

Dakla 60 belongs to the class of medicines used for treating Hepatitis C.

Storage Conditions

Store Dakla 60 at room temperature below 30°C, away from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
