Indications

Dapaglip 10 is used along with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Pharmacology

Dapaglip 10 works by blocking a protein in the kidneys that normally helps the body reabsorb sugar. This allows more sugar to be removed through urine, lowering blood sugar levels.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: The usual starting dose is 5 mg once a day in the morning, with or without food. If needed, the dose can be increased to 10 mg daily.

Patients with Kidney Problems: Kidney function should be checked before starting treatment and during use. Dapaglip 10 should not be used if kidney function is severely reduced.

Children: Dapaglip 10 is not recommended for those under 18 years old.

Interaction

Dapaglip 10 may enhance the effects of diuretics, increasing the risk of dehydration and low blood pressure. When used with insulin or similar drugs, Dapaglip 10 may raise the risk of low blood sugar. Dapaglip 10 may also interact with some blood pressure medications, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Contraindications

Dapaglip 10 should not be used by individuals who are allergic to its ingredients, those with severe kidney disease, or patients on dialysis.

Side Effects

Possible side effects include low blood pressure, dehydration, urinary infections, kidney problems, and yeast infections. Some people may experience increased cholesterol levels, sore throat, or an increased risk of bladder infections.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Dapaglip 10 should only be used during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Dapaglip 10 is unknown if Dapaglip 10 passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding mothers should avoid Dapaglip 10.

Precautions & Warnings

Before using, check hydration levels and kidney function, especially in elderly patients or those taking diuretics. Dapaglip 10 may cause low blood sugar if taken with insulin or insulin-releasing drugs. Patients with a history of bladder cancer should use Dapaglip 10 with caution.
