Pharmacology

Dapaglip 5 works by blocking a protein in the kidneys that normally helps the body reabsorb sugar. This allows more sugar to be removed through urine, lowering blood sugar levels.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: The usual starting dose is 5 mg once a day in the morning, with or without food. If needed, the dose can be increased to 10 mg daily.

Patients with Kidney Problems: Kidney function should be checked before starting treatment and during use. Dapaglip 5 should not be used if kidney function is severely reduced.

Children: Dapaglip 5 is not recommended for those under 18 years old.

Interaction

Dapaglip 5 may enhance the effects of diuretics, increasing the risk of dehydration and low blood pressure. When used with insulin or similar drugs, Dapaglip 5 may raise the risk of low blood sugar. Dapaglip 5 may also interact with some blood pressure medications, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Contraindications

Dapaglip 5 should not be used by individuals who are allergic to its ingredients, those with severe kidney disease, or patients on dialysis.

Side Effects

Possible side effects include low blood pressure, dehydration, urinary infections, kidney problems, and yeast infections. Some people may experience increased cholesterol levels, sore throat, or an increased risk of bladder infections.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Dapaglip 5 should only be used during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Dapaglip 5 is unknown if Dapaglip 5 passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding mothers should avoid Dapaglip 5.

Precautions & Warnings

Before using, check hydration levels and kidney function, especially in elderly patients or those taking diuretics. Dapaglip 5 may cause low blood sugar if taken with insulin or insulin-releasing drugs. Patients with a history of bladder cancer should use Dapaglip 5 with caution.
