Indications
Darven 10 is used to manage high blood pressure and protect organs. Darven 10 can be helpful for elderly patients and those with diabetes and kidney problems.
Pharmacology
Darven 10 is a calcium-channel blocker that works by relaxing the blood vessels. Darven 10 prevents calcium from entering smooth muscle cells and nerve cells, which helps in lowering blood pressure. Darven 10 also reduces the release of certain chemicals that may raise blood pressure, like norepinephrine. Darven 10 helps to control the reflex increase in heart rate when blood pressure decreases.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 5-10 mg once a day after breakfast. The maximum dose is 20 mg per day.
Pediatric use: The safety of this medicine for children is not yet confirmed.
Elderly use: Older patients may be more sensitive to the drug, so Darven 10 should start with a low dose of 5 mg.
Interaction
This medicine may interact with other blood pressure medicines, antipsychotics, and drugs like quinidine, carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampicin, cimetidine, and erythromycin.
Contraindications
Darven 10 is not recommended for people who are allergic to Cilnidipine or any of its ingredients, or for those with severe heart conditions like cardiogenic shock, recent heart attacks, unstable angina, or severe aortic stenosis.
Side Effects
Common side effects include dizziness, flushing, headaches, low blood pressure, swelling of the legs, heart palpitations, stomach issues, frequent urination, tiredness, eye pain, and depression.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Darven 10 is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If absolutely necessary, breastfeeding should be stopped while taking this medication.
Precautions & Warnings
This medicine should be used cautiously in patients with severe liver problems or those who have had severe reactions to calcium channel blockers in the past. The dosage should be reduced gradually under close supervision when stopping the medicine.
