Indications
Decabolon is used to treat established osteoporosis, advanced breast cancer in women (for palliative therapy), protein deficiency after major surgery or injury, anemia caused by chronic kidney failure, aplastic anemia, anemia due to chemotherapy, chronic illnesses in elderly patients, post-surgery or post-injury recovery, and during corticosteroid therapy.
Pharmacology
Decabolon is an injectable anabolic drug. The active ingredient is nandrolone, and the decanoate ester gives Decabolon a lasting effect for about three weeks after injection. Decabolon is chemically similar to the male hormone testosterone but has stronger anabolic effects and weaker androgenic effects. This makes Decabolon useful for promoting bone mass and protein metabolism. Decabolon helps in conditions where there is a protein deficiency, such as after surgery or trauma. Decabolon also has a positive effect on calcium metabolism and bone mass in osteoporosis. Nandrolone Decanoate is less likely to cause virilization (development of male traits) at normal doses. Decabolon does not cause liver issues like other anabolic steroids because Decabolon lacks a particular chemical group (C 17 alpha-alkyl).
Dosage & Administration
Established Osteoporosis: 50 mg every 3 weeks
Disseminated breast cancer in women (palliative therapy): 50 mg every 3 weeks
Protein deficiency after major surgery or trauma: 50 mg every 2-3 weeks
Anemia due to chronic renal failure: 50-200 mg per week
Aplastic anemia: 50-150 mg per week
Anemia due to chemotherapy: 200 mg per week
Chronic illness in elderly: 100 mg
Post-surgery or post-trauma recovery: 25-50 mg every 3 weeks
During corticosteroid therapy: 50 mg every 2-3 weeks
Interaction
Since the drug has long-lasting effects, side effects are not easily reversed by stopping Decabolon. Injectable forms can cause local reactions at the injection site. The following side effects may occur depending on the dose and duration: virilization, high cholesterol, increased libido, high blood pressure, voice changes, nausea, liver issues, acne, skin rashes, increased hair growth, early bone fusion, reduced urine flow, prostate enlargement, erectile issues, menstrual changes, decreased sperm count, swelling, and injection site reactions.
Contraindications
Decabolon is contraindicated in pregnancy, male breast cancer, prostate cancer, allergies to peanuts and soy, or any sensitivity to the active ingredients or other components, including arachis oil.

Pregnancy & Lactation
Decabolon is not safe during pregnancy because Decabolon may masculinize the fetus. There is insufficient information on its effects during breastfeeding to determine if Decabolon could harm the baby or affect milk production.
Precautions & Warnings
If signs of virilization appear, treatment should be stopped, preferably after consulting with a doctor. Patients with any of the following conditions should be monitored: heart or kidney failure, high blood pressure, migraine, incomplete bone growth, skeletal metastasis from breast cancer, high calcium levels (which can be a sign of a positive treatment response), and liver problems. Decabolon is also not recommended for athletes seeking to enhance performance, as Decabolon may pose serious health risks.
Overdose Effects
Animal studies show that the acute toxicity of Nandrolone Decanoate is very low. There have been no reported cases of overdose in humans.
