Indications

Deslor Kidz is used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including sneezing, nasal discharge, itching, congestion, redness, and tearing of the eyes, as well as itching of the palate and coughing. Deslor Kidz is also used to relieve symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria, such as itching and hives.

Pharmacology

Deslor Kidz is a non-sedating, long-acting antihistamine that blocks histamine receptors. Deslor Kidz helps reduce allergy symptoms by preventing the release of histamine from certain cells in the body.

Dosage & Administration

Pediatric drops:
Child 6-11 months: 2 ml once daily.
Child 1-2 years: 2.5 ml once daily.
Syrup:
Child 6-11 months: 2 ml once daily.
Child 1-5 years: 2.5 ml once daily.
Child 6-11 years: 5 ml once daily.
Adults & >12 years: 10 ml once daily.
Tablet:
Adults and children 12 years and older: 1 tablet daily.

Interaction

No major drug interactions have been reported.

Contraindications

Deslor Kidz is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or any of its components, including Loratadine.

Side Effects

Less common side effects may include headache, nausea, tiredness, dizziness, sore throat, upset stomach, and muscle pain.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Category C. The safety of Desloratadine during pregnancy is not established. Deslor Kidz should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Desloratadine passes into breast milk, so a decision should be made whether to stop breastfeeding or to stop taking Desloratadine, depending on the importance of the medication to the mother.

Precautions & Warnings

In patients with liver or kidney problems, Deslor Kidz is recommended to start with one 5 mg tablet every other day based on the drug’s effects in the body. Patients with a history of seizures should also take caution.

Overdose Effects

No significant adverse effects from overdose have been reported.

Store in a cool, dry place away from light. Keep the medicine below 30°C and out of the reach of children.
