Indications

Doriject is used to treat infections, including:

  • Complicated abdominal infections caused by certain bacteria like E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and more.
  • Complicated urinary tract infections, including kidney infections, caused by bacteria like E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and others.

Pharmacology

Doriject is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that works against many types of bacteria, both positive and negative. Doriject kills bacteria by stopping them from making their cell walls, which causes the bacteria to die.

Doriject works by attaching to certain proteins in bacteria, like in E. coli and P. aeruginosa, to stop the bacteria from maintaining their shape and function.

Dosage & Administration

Adults & Elderly: 500 mg every 8 hours by injection for 1 hour, or as directed by the doctor. In more serious cases, a higher dose may be needed.

Pediatric Patients: Not established for children.

Renal Impairment: The dosage may be adjusted depending on kidney function. Consult a doctor for proper dosing.

Interaction

Doriject can increase blood levels when taken with probenecid. Doriject may lower the levels of valproic acid, which could increase the risk of seizures.

Contraindications

Doriject should not be used by people who are allergic to any of its ingredients or other similar antibiotics, or who have had a severe allergic reaction to beta-lactam antibiotics.
