Mode of Action
Ecoren is not available at the moment.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: Apply a small amount of the cream to the affected area no more than twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Avoid using Ecoren with a bandage, and don’t apply Ecoren to large areas of the body. Continue treatment until the inflammation goes down, but no longer than 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, use a cream with only econazole or econazole nitrate as needed.
Pediatric Use: Children might be more sensitive to the effects of the corticosteroids in the cream. Use Ecoren cautiously, especially on children under 2 years of age.
Interaction
Econazole: Ecoren can interact with certain blood thinners like warfarin and acenocoumarol.
Triamcinolone: Ecoren can lower the levels of some medicines like salicylates, increase the risk of bleeding or ulcers with NSAIDs, and can affect blood sugar levels when taken with diabetes medicines. Ecoren can also increase the risk of high potassium when used with certain drugs.
Contraindications
Ecoren is not recommended for people who are allergic to any of its ingredients. Ecoren should also not be used for certain skin conditions like viral infections (e.g., herpes, chickenpox), or fresh vaccination sites. Ecoren is also not for use on pressure ulcers or certain other skin infections.
Side Effects
In rare cases, mild irritation, itching, or redness may occur after use. The cream is generally well tolerated. However, long-term use, especially on infants or with a bandage, may cause adrenal suppression (affecting the body’s hormone balance).
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy: Triamcinolone can cross the placenta, and prolonged use during pregnancy can cause harm to the baby. Ecoren is best to avoid using Ecoren during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.
Lactation: A small amount of the cream may pass into breast milk. Ecoren is advised not to use this cream while breastfeeding, or if Ecoren must be used, breastfeeding should be stopped.
Precautions & Warnings
This cream is for external use only. Do not use Ecoren in the eyes or mouth. If any allergic reaction or irritation occurs, stop using Ecoren. Prolonged use can lead to thinning of the skin and other side effects. Extra care is needed when using Ecoren on children, as their skin absorbs more of the cream. Ecoren should only be used for short periods (less than 2 weeks) and on small areas of the skin.
Overdose Effects
Since this cream is applied to the skin, Ecoren is unlikely to cause overdose symptoms. If Ecoren is accidentally swallowed, treat the symptoms. If Ecoren gets into the eyes, rinse with clean water or saline and seek medical help if irritation continues.
Therapeutic Class
Ecoren is a combined preparation of Triamcinolone and other related medicines.
Storage Conditions
Store in a cool, dry place (below 30°C), away from light, and out of reach of children.
